Get Lit at Brave New Voices

It was hard to know how Brave New Voices was going to go this year.This year BNV was due to hit Los Angeles – and if y’all know LA then you know that LA is S P R E A D OUT!

So its July 19th and the poets are rolling in, Get Lit is set to perform for opening ceremonies and you can feel the excitement dance with trepidation.
…this is was going to be an intense week. All we can do is Get RET!

Get Lit Players: LIVE!

Here the Get Lit players perform at USC and at The Bowery Poetry Club. The chosen poem is Robert Pinsky’s “The Shirt.” While performing Pinsky’s work, the players incorporate their reactions to the piece.

Get Lit’s: Briauna Taylor

Los Angeles’s Daily News profiled our own Briauna Taylor. She tells them “Poetry is a very simple and acceptable thing, you just need a pen, a piece of paper and a voice.” Briauna recently performed for Brave New Voices Finals and HBO, sharing the stage with Talib Kweli and Common.

A Poetic Success!

Thank you to all who came out and supported our Fundraiser July 10th at the Gilmore Adobe! With special guests Tim Robbins, Sharon Stone and, of course, The Get Lit Players, it was a touching and amazing night of poetry, music and great food. Not even an unexpected summer shower could dampen the spirit of the evening.
